We've been thinking about the side of our front yard where we had taken out that monster of a mesquite tree. We knew we needed to do something with that area. The boganvilla (no clue on how to spell) had been dominated by the mesquite tree and had started growing at an angle. We knew we needed to take it out. Then the lantana on the other side of where the tree had also been dominated by the mesquite tree. We had hoped that since we took the tree that it would grow back...we took the tree out I don't know how long ago and the lantana still didn't grow back. So we decided to replace that. We decided to put a hybiscus where the boganvilla was; another lantana plant where the old lantana was, and we decided to put a lime tree where the mesquite tree was. We also got a lemon tree to put in the backyard. So now our front yard hopefully will look a lot better...

Oh, you are so lucky to have fruit trees! We had some plants die out front and replaced them with gardenia- my favorite! I hope they don't die!
I love your new plantings! Question: Will the homeowners association let you keep your lime tree? I don't remember lime being one of the trees you could choose.
I checked with the HOA months ago and they told me the trees I could not have. Lime trees weren't on that list...it was more like olive trees, mulberry trees, etc. So we should be okay. We do need to get some more rock...when they originally did our landscaping they gave us the bare minimum that we would need.
