Monsoon!

So for those of you who don't live in Arizona you might not know about our monsoon season...I know...it sounds like what is referred to as a hurricane over near Japan and China, but it's also a weather system that we have here in Arizona. Every summer we have it. We have monsoons when the dew point reaches a certain temperature which makes the atmosphere especially sensitive to thunderstorms, rain, hail, etc. They usually also bring up a dust storm. Last summer I remember we had a good number of storms, but this summer it didn't seem to be too bad. It seems like much of the valley was being hit but our house. So tonight while Kevin and I were driving home we could see dark clouds over in the direction of where our house was. And as we got closer we could definately see that a storm was going on. We could see the lightning (which we also have lightning storms here which I absolutely love) and it was really dark. So we were home for like ten minutes when we started hearing the wind get harder and we could hear rain hitting the window (something we haven't heard in awhile). We looked out the patio door and saw it was raining. It rained for a little bit but the lightning storm that followed was AWESOME!!!! It still wasn't as good rain-wise and dust-wise from the storms we had last year but we'll take what we can get. We're just glad that we got some action!!!

Quote of the Week

"We are often left to work out problems, without the dictation or specific direction of the Spirit. That is part of the experience we must have in mortality. Fortunately, we are never out of the Savior's sight, and if our judgement leads us to actions beyond the limits of what is permissible and if we are listening to the still small voice, the Lord will restrain us by the promptings of His Spirit." - Elder Dallin H. Oaks

"We don't have to be perfect today. We don't have to be better than someone else. All we have to do is to be the very best we can." - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
