There is a newer Country song that has come out recently that speaks directly to Kevin and me and our situation. It's by Trace Adkins, titled "You're Gonna Miss This". If you have the chance, listen to this song. These are the lyrics that especially speak to us:
"Before she knows it she's a brand new bride/In her one-bedroom apartment and her daddy stops by/ He tells her it's a nice place she says it'll do for now/ Starts talking about babies and buying a house/ And Daddy shakes his head and says baby just slow down
"Cause...
"You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this."
Kevin and I have been trying to start a family for four and a half years now. It's been rather hard for us. We want more than anything to have a family. We've come to a realization on our own, but I've had a friend tell me this also, that we are having this time to just be with each other...to enjoy each other. Not a lot of couples who have been married as long as we have can say that they've had this much time together by themselves (at least in Mormon families anyway). They're focused on their kids and find little time to actually spend just with each other. So we are being blessed; even if we see this as a trial. So when Kevin and I heard this song it brought tears to both of our eyes because it spoke truth to us. And even though we want a family more than anything in this world, we are really enjoying the time that we have with each other.
