I Love Nursery

Kevin and I are in the nursery in our ward. Most people called to work in the nursery moan when they first hear of their new call. Not us. We love being in nursery. It's the highlight of our week. As we spend time with the kids in our class we are constantly reminded of their innocence and how we should become childlike, like them. One of my favorite times in nursery is singing time. In our ward they have someone specifically called to come in and sing with the kids. The kids LOVE singing. My favorite part is when we sing "I am a Child of God." The thing I like the most is seeing that the kids are actually singing along with us, grown ups. I am so thankful that their parents have spent the time to teach them this special song. Another of my favorite parts of nursery is watching the kids interact with each other. We have one little girl who when she sees one of the others kids not wanting to interact will go up and put her arm around them and gently get them to play with the rest of the group. Mind you, this little girl is two years old. It is so sweet to see her reach out! Since we don't have any kids of our own yet, this gives us our chance to be with kids and help them to know who they really are: children of Heavenly Father.

Quote of the Week

"We are often left to work out problems, without the dictation or specific direction of the Spirit. That is part of the experience we must have in mortality. Fortunately, we are never out of the Savior's sight, and if our judgement leads us to actions beyond the limits of what is permissible and if we are listening to the still small voice, the Lord will restrain us by the promptings of His Spirit." - Elder Dallin H. Oaks

"We don't have to be perfect today. We don't have to be better than someone else. All we have to do is to be the very best we can." - Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
